The French Slingshot Federation presents the rules applicable to competitions.
The rule concerning dart shooting is a French exception, all other rules are in accordance with the international competition rules issued by the WSA (World Slingshot Association).

🏹 FFLP Slingshot Competition Rules (rev.0 – January 8, 2021)
1. Competition Categories
Main categories:

Precision – standard target accuracy shooting

Traditional – old-style slingshots, no sights or modern systems

Frameless – shooting with elastic and pouch only (no frame)

Rapid Fire – speed shooting on hanging targets
-
Dart – shooting with darts instead of balls
-
Team Event – one team per club (4 members, men or women, adults or minors)
👉 During competitions in France, participants can enter any category, regardless of gender.
Minors compete separately from adults, except in team events.
A category may be canceled if fewer than three competitors register.
2. General Rules
A1. Projectiles

Steel balls: 6.35 to 9.5 mm diameter (±0.03 mm tolerance)

Darts: 2 attachment points, max length 15 cm
A2. Slingshot Specifications

Max length 30 cm, width 25 cm

Only elastic-powered energy allowed

No wrist rests, laser sights, or lights
-
No magnets in the pouch, no mechanical release (except for darts)

Passive sights are allowed

Any elastic attachment system permitted
Traditional category restrictions:

No sights, fibers, colored marks, or alignment guides
-
Bands tied only by ligature (no clamps or jaws)
-
Fork must be one piece and non-adjustable
Frameless: only elastic + leather pouch held by hand.
Rapid Fire: any slingshot conforming to general rules, including frameless.

4. Competition Timing and Scoring

5. Competition Format
Precision:
4 stages over 2 days
-
Stage 1: two rounds at 10 m

Stage 2: two rounds at 15 m

Stage 3: semifinal (top 50%) at 15 m
-
Stage 4: finals by elimination, including small final for 3rd place
Traditional, Frameless, Rapid Fire, Dart:
Same format but with 3 stages (2 × 10 m rounds, semifinal, final).
6. Additional Rules
-
Registration via clubs affiliated with the FFLP (insurance required).
-
Training only in designated safe zones.
-
Competitors must follow all category instructions and complete all events entered; absence = 0 points.
-
Team members wear a common identifying sign.
-
All shooting must be standing; seated shooting allowed only with prior FFLP approval for disability.
-
1-minute prep time per round.
-
Shooter must stay behind the shooting line.
-
Premature or extra shots = 0 points.
-
Stop signal = immediate end of shooting; ignoring it = 0 points.
-
Equipment failure: competitors may replace bands or slingshot with their own spare within the zone. Borrowing or sharing equipment = 0 points.

Disrespecting referees = disqualification.
7. Awards
Depending on participation and organizer means, medals or prizes may be awarded for:

8. Rule Interpretation
Any unaddressed matters or interpretation of these rules fall under the authority of the FFLP Competition Committee.
In case of disputes, FFLP’s decision is final.
